Ellers så glem den CD og kast dig over NOW Thats what I call Disney, den ligger bla. andet som gratis playliste til Spotify på MySpotify, og det er alle Disneys tegnefilms filmhit, dem går man ikke galt i byen med, og mine 3 unger skal i hvert fald ikke hører Blood Hound Gang... faren her hører det dog... I Bilen!

Jeg ved godt at børn ikke tænker på hvad de synger – men derfor tror jeg nu alligevel ikke at vi køber den slags til hende! Og som Phyl siger, så er der jo masser af mere fornuftig musik. Og noget helt andet er at jeg synes det er absolut frygteligt at høre på, fordi det er sat op i dobbelt tempo!

Spørgsmålet er også hvor lang tid der går før hun begynder at forstå engelsk – hun ser næsten lige så meget fjernsyn på engelsk som hun gør på dansk (det kaldes YouTube!)

I’ve had the same thoughts about swearing – it’s much easier and apparently less offending to swear in a foreign language. In Denmark almost every kid have learned not to say “fandens” or “for pokker”, but it’s quite different to say “damn” or “fuck” because it doesn’t trigger the taboo learned in the early years.

We’re watching Battlestar Galactica at the moment and they’ve gotten around the bizzare American rules by introducing a new swear word: Frak. “Mother frakker”, “frak you” and so on. The meaning gets across, but nobody swears. :)

I imagine if you want to play music with English lyrics to your kids there are enough songs with acceptable lyrics for 7 year olds that you don’t need to sink to this level (It isn’t a song I (as a native English speaker) know). It is quite typical I think of the mistakes the countries who are very proficient in English as a foreign language make. In countries like France, Germany or Spain their English is passable but very foreign. In Scandinavia and Holland you speak English so well you start to use is almost like natives but often get the frequency and register particularly of swear words completely wrong. I’m always shocked at how you hear English swear words in Danish in contexts and used by people I just know would never use them here. (And I am no prude!) Given I write bilingual dictionaries I know a great deal about the issue!
This text just wouldn’t be included on a cd of songs for kids here.

Jeg tror at du stiller for store krav til de små!
De analyserer ikke teksten som du gør, og Emma på 7 kan sagtens synge “so put your hands down my pants……” uden at behøve at vide hvad teksten betyder, og da hun forhåbentlig ikke har nogle erotiske erfaringer eller præferencer, er teksten for hende ikke “uartig” som den er for dig eller mig.
og kids er de vel til de bliver omkring 12-13 år – og der kan du måske begynde at bekymre dig om hvorvidt de forstår tekstens betydning ;-)
